(MAINNEWS) – Denise Richards defended her decision to buy a Mercedes-Benz for her daughter Lola after the teen “totaled” her Volkswagen.
“People are going to be like, ‘Oh, you got her another car.’ It was about five or six months later,” the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum said on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live” Thursday.
Richards, 51, explained elsewhere in the interview that the luxury vehicle is “very safe,” though she admittedly could not remember which model she had purchased.
“It’s like a sedan,” she said.
news confirmed in June 2022 that Lola had been involved in a car accident, with the California Highway Patrol saying the 17-year-old crashed into an embankment while attempting to navigate a windy road late at night.

“Nobody was taken to the hospital, but the minor driver complained of a headache after the collision,” a police spokesperson told us at the time.
However, Richards claimed Thursday that Lola was not actually behind the wheel.

“She protected the person driving,” the “Wild Things” actress said. “I knew she didn’t drive [that night], and then finally [she] came clean.”
Richards, who admitted Lola had “snuck out” of their house the night of the incident, shared that the Volkswagen was “totaled,” but “no one” was severely injured.
“The police officers were so wonderful because they said that there’s a car accident there almost every single weekend, and a lot of kids don’t survive it,” she added. “It scared the f–king s–t out of her.”
Richards shares Lola and daughter Sami, 18, with her ex-husband, Charlie Sheen. The former Bravolebrity is also the mother of daughter Eloise, 11, whom she adopted in 2011.
Following her 2006 divorce from the “Two and a Half Men” star, Richards married Aaron Phypers in 2018.
